FIRST TIME HERE?

A few things to know

What happens when I arrive?

Please knock, then come in if the door is unlocked. The door is locked once meditation has started, so if it is locked, please wait for someone to let you in after the meditation ends. For workshops, talks and other sessions, the door is normally unlocked.

What should I wear or bring?

Whatever you would normally wear that day is fine. We recommend something comfortable, and a sweater or shawl in case the air-conditioning feels cold.

Can I simply turn up?

You can usually come along if that day’s programme has been confirmed. Please check the programme list before travelling. There is no fee to take part: the programmes are fully supported by volunteers.

How long will I stay?

The main Lotus Circle programme typically lasts one to one and a half hours. The Singapore Lodge main programme is usually about two hours long. You can also stay for dinner with some of us afterwards.

A STRUCTURED COURSE

A Course in Theosophy (ACT)

The Singapore Lodge describes ACT as a free introduction to Theosophy. It explores seven connected subjects, from the tradition’s views of nature and human evolution to thought and ethical living. ACT has its own intake schedule, which may differ from the usual Saturday programme above.

Seven connected subjects

  1. The Different Planes of NatureTheosophical ideas about planes of nature and consciousness.
  2. Man’s EvolutionThe tradition’s perspectives on human origins, karma and reincarnation.
  3. Death and AfterTheosophical views of death and what may follow.
  4. The Astral PlaneHow the tradition describes the astral plane.
  5. The Mental PlaneTheosophical descriptions of the mental or “heaven” world.
  6. Thought-FormsThe Theosophical idea that thought shapes habits, conduct and relationships.
  7. The Noble Eightfold PathVirtues, practice and right living.

The Lodge says ACT is offered once or twice a year. Please check with the Lodge for the next confirmed course dates and enrolment details; the usual Saturday times above do not apply to ACT.
